Every piece at Odd Cod Studio starts with a conversation, Whether you are looking for a sign with your hometown's name, a custom ropework commission, an engraved gift or something else inspired by the coast.
All custom orders are handcrafted in our Massachusetts studio by Michele and Gary. No two pieces are exactly alike.
How It Works
We use a proof-first process so you can see exactly what your piece will look like before you pay.
- Submit your request using the form below for your product type. No payment required at this stage.
- We will review your request and create a digital proof. Expect to hear from us within 2-3 business days.
- You review the proof and request any changes. We will revise and provide a second digital proof.
- Once you approve, we send a secure payment link. Pay by card, Apple Pay or Shop Pay.
- We handcraft your piece and ship it to your door. Current custom order production time is approximately 10 business days.
Custom Hand-Painted Wooden Signs
Our hand-painted signs celebrate the places that matter most — coastal towns, local landmarks, harbors, and beaches. Available in three formats: Standard (9"x25"), Slim (6"x25"), and Zip Code (6"x12"). All painted by hand in our Massachusetts studio.
Custom Ropework
From rope wreathes and Mariner's knot wall art to rope bowls, jewelry and keychains — all tied by hand using traditional maritime seamanship techniques. Custom ropework is available in a range of sizes, colors and knot styles.
Custom Engraved Boards
Laser-engraved cutting boards featuring your family name, a favorite place, coordinates or artwork. A thoughtful housewarming, wedding or anniversary gift.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pay to submit a request?
No. Submitting a custom order request is completely free. you only pay after you have seen and approved your proof.
How long does it take to receive my proof?
We aim to send your proof writing 2-3 business days of receiving your request. During busy seasons (holiday markets, summer) it may take a little longer — we'll always communicate if that's the case.
How many revisions can I request?
You review the proof and send any requested changes. We include one revision round — please consolidate all feedback in a single reply.
How long does production take after I pay?
Current production time is approximately 10 business days after payment. Hand-painted pieces require adequate drying and curing time, which can vary with weather and humidity conditions. We'll confirm your timeline when we send your payment link.
Can I request a rush order?
Rush orders may be available depending on our current production schedule. Please indicate your need-by-date in the form and we'll let you know what is possible. Rush orders may carry an additional fee.
