Manila rope is the rope of working harbors and sailing ships — warm golden-brown, naturally stiff, and built to last. Tied by hand into a Turk's Head Knot in our North Shore Massachusetts studio, our manila rope bowls have a timeless, unfussy quality that suits almost any coastal home.
Every bowl is tied from a single continuous length of manila rope — no adhesives, no forms, no shortcuts. The knot tightens and locks as it's worked, creating a dense, durable base that holds its shape over time.
Available in three sizes:
- Cutter — our largest bowl, tied from approximately 36 feet of rope
- Launch — our mid-size bowl, tied from approximately 28 feet of rope
- Dinghy — our smallest bowl, tied from approximately 20 feet of rope
Each Cutter bowl is tied from 36 feet of natural manila rope — worked entirely by hand into a continuous knot that takes time and skill to form correctly. These are not mass produced pieces. Every bowl that leaves our studio is one we're proud of.
Why You'll Love It: Hand-tied using traditional maritime knotwork. Natural manila fiber — no synthetics. Made by hand on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Functional and sculptural. Gets better with age.
